Welcome to Nama Sports! I am so glad to have you here!
Oftentimes, in sports, and even in life...well, anytime we are trying to achieve a goal, we can feel like we are spinning our wheels, stuck in a loop of zero progression - you get the picture. This can be so frustrating.
As a figure skating and hockey skating skills coach, I was often baffled at the lack of mind/body connection in my students. Later, as I also started doing private yoga and stretch classes with clients who were in other sports, I noticed the same thing.
As I worked alongside them and started to integrate my yoga practices along with my athletic training, my students and clients started having more and more "Aha" moments and experiencing progression even if they felt stagnant or were struggling with burnout.
This is what inspired me to share these things with you! Many yoga programs have amazing benefits for athletes, but they don't necessarily create a clear path of integration FOR athletes. This is why I was inspired to create a program geared specifically for athletes and those who are athletically minded that focuses on integrating a mind/body mindset, movement, philosophy, and sport psychology topics...and I can't wait to share it with you!
Nama Sports was founded and created by me, Deana Spencer, AKA Coach Deana, but it was inspired by YOU!
About me!?! Where do I begin!?!
I have been coaching figure skating and hockey skills for over 15 years. My skating included pairs, Free Skate, and Moves in the Field. I also started training hockey skaters in edge work and power skating.
I am a certified Health & Nutrition Coach (IIN), Certified Yoga Instructor, I have a BS in Humanistic Studies with an emphasis in Sport Psychology, and a BA in Psychology.
Nama Sports is a virtual yoga membership that is for individuals who are athletes or athlete-minded! What does this mean? It means you don't necessarily have to be an athlete, but if you love the mindset of sports and have a "get after it" attitude, this is for you!
With that said, you don't necessarily have to be a practicing yogi or limber (nope, it's not required!). You just have to show up.
As an athlete, I'm sure once you ventured into your sport you realized that is not simply learning a skill, but that there is so much more to it. You not only need to learn the specific skill set, but you also need to learn performance strategies, overcome mental obstacles, and learn more about yourself than you realized. My goal and vision is to bring the art of yoga into your athletic training, no matter what level and sport you do!
What will your membership include?
Nama Sports is designed to integrate yoga flows and practices with stretch classes, mindful training which will include meditations and visualization sessions, sport psychology topics and discussions, a book club, and much more!
